Tal and Hello, just a few words from Thassa.com
This server was created by people that after hearing "rumours" from some of those in the admin of B.com that irc bondage chat was closing, it was created for people who after many years of chatting would be possibly looking for another chat venue.
bondage.com/topic_id/229624/forums/topic.html ß this link alone has five different admin from bondage.com asking the new owners for clarity as to whether the irc servers would be kept on.
bondage.com/i/1070215/e/69684/blog.html#69684 ß this link is to the blog of a super admin on the irc server whom clearly outlines what will happen when the server dies.
If you’re looking for scapegoats as to the why and how of how these rumours got started it was bondage.coms very own irc admin team – who sadly during the buy-out weren’t kept in the loop as to the future status of the server. Thassa has never maintained that the irc servers of bondage.com would be closing instead they acted on the information supplied by the ircop admin team and created a server to service lost Goreans.
So yes to some degree initially, thassa was talked about on bondage.com, by alot of people, to tell others about other options to chat, (there are plenty already out there – many of which are promoted daily on bondage.com without recourse) so that people would know of it.
When all were just waiting for it to close, rumours galore were cast about from the high up places in bondage where people "knew" or thought they "knew" what was happening. Eventually some of the irc admin team were re-employed by Various Inc thus a change in attitude to the litter of new servers created by the news of its imminent demise came about.
The spam filter was introduced, people found out that just by mentioning the word "Thassa" it disappeared not to be seen, of course this became almost a joke, people would say it and say it to prove to others, then of course they started to ban those saying it, even those that said it within the role play side of Gor – girls were killed for its use while dancing in festivals.
People on bondage know of Thassa, I doubt there is one person that doesn’t, not because of the "spamming" but because of the adverse publicity. People have been advised not to spam, and in honesty I don’t think there is much need to. It is plain that Goreans are not wanted on bondage and pretty much evidenced by the words of trelalna and Zerogummi – which you yourselves reproduced here.
[22:07] <trela|na> we'd love to see the goreans simply disappear
[22:08] <Ehre> then why worry abbout the spamming?
[22:08] <trela|na> but don't use our server to spam it on
[22:08] * Zerogummi agrees
[22:08] <Ehre> oh really?
[22:08] <trela|na> build your own
[22:08] <Zerogummi> really
And while honestly we're not happy how users have been treated on bondage we by no means ever intended for Goreans as a whole to feel alienated there. We support every users choice to chat where they like, be it on Thassa, Gorean pathways, Dalnet, Undernet or Bondage. Our user base is steadily growing not because of spam, but because word of mouth travels, that we'd offering a different venue one that we hope is good for all users.
We want Goreans and those of other lifestyles to come to Thassa but we must be clear that we do not condone nor ask that anyone spams our box. We agree completely with bondage.coms choice to filter anyone spamming their system. those spammers are acting independently of our corporate policies and we do not condone those actions, despite what other irc admins have said. We have acted with honor and will continue to do so.
On a more positive note Thassa is a place of friendly people, where you will be welcome and can approach the admins without fear of prejudice or distaste. We are a very open community and pride ourselves on the fact that we have been able to successfully integrate two very diverse communities and are now expanding our lifestyle user base.
Be welcome at Thassa, for it is a place of friends – and future ones. And we always welcome feedback. Just pop along to #help or even contact myself, Kit, with any comments, suggestions and feedback regardless of its content. It is always welcome. We look forward to hearing from you and hope to see you on Thassa.com very soon.
Kit
